Start of the International Arts Exchange Program between Switzerland, Germany and Armenia

Start of a new artist’s exchange program between Switzerland, Germany and Armenia
Initiated and supported by Foundation KulturDialog Armenien and in cooperation with the Christoph Merian Foundation / Atelier Mondial (Basel, Switzerland), the Cultural Affairs Office of the City of Freiburg in Breisgau (county of Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany), the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg in Breisgau and the Museum of New Art of Freiburg in Breisgau a new program has been created to promote artistic and cultural exchange between Basel, Freiburg in Breisgau and its region and Yerevan (Armenia).
The program will enable artists to live and work as artist-in-residence in Armenia, Germany or Switzerland for a period of six months. Beginning in 2016, the city of Freiburg in Breisgau will host an Armenian artist who then will be given the chance to work in the city’s artistic printing studio “L6”. In return, a Suisse or German artist will stay as artist-in-residence in Yerevan. He or she will be hosted by Foundation KulturDialog Armenien and will live and work at one of “Kotchar 13” studios. Subsequently, the artist will be given the opportunity to present the works he or she created during his or her stay in a special exhibition in order to get in contact with the local audience.
Thanks to the great and indispensable financial support of the Embassy of Switzerland in Armenia and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Armenia the representatives of our Suisse and German partners will come to Yerevan to officially launch the program together with Foundation KulturDialog Armenien as their sole Armenian partner.
This way, Mrs. Nathalie Unternährer and Dr. Alexandra Stäheli (Christoph Merian Foundation / Atelier Mondial, Basel, Switzerland), Mr. Joachim Koennecke (Cultural Affairs Office, City of Freiburg in Breisgau, Germany), Prof. Dr. Angeli Janhsen (Department of Art History, University of Freiburg in Breisgau, Germany) and Dr. Christine Litz (Museum of New Art, Freiburg in Breisgau, Germany) will be given the chance to get to know the art scene of Yerevan and to actually meet the first Armenian artist to participate in the program.
By means of this program, the Armenian artist will live and work in Freiburg in Breisgau as artist-in-residence from January to June 2016. At the end of his stay he will present his works to the German audience in a special exhibition in Freiburg in Breisgau.
